    Brake light switch fault

Have had a flashing coil light for about a week, no issues with limp home mode or performance. I can clear the error with my ultraguage but no tc would be visible.

Did a vcds scan yesterday and came up with brake switch implausible signal. No other engine related problems found.

So where would I start to look to troubleshoot brake switch? Thoughts?

@EdwinP, reckon it's below the master cylinder. Might have to remove the airbox for access at the very least I'd say.
Edit.. might even access it with under guard removal. Heres a pic from below. Shiny new V6 but should be the same[emoji6]

Cheers @Winchy looks and sounds like a next weekend job.

A bit more research online suggest to check the brake lights bulbs and connections aswell.

@EdwinP, yes it could easily be a fault somewhere in the brake light circuit.

    Good luck with your search.

    Superseded by part# 5GO 698 459 apparently.
I wondered why it was in such a cow of a position, so found it not only activates the brake lights, but illuminates a brake warning light if there's an issue with fluid pressure in the master cylinder. A reason for everything.

    @Winchy you think it's a simple swap?

    Brake light switch fault

Have a look at the connector to see if it's secure and the wiring isn't loose / damaged.
If you have an electronic brake controller, check it isn't faulty or shorting the signal wire. You might be able to check the signal from the brake switch with vcds, in the abs module settings I think. If you can't find it let us know and I'll have a look in mine.

I have a feeling that switch is an electronic switch, it is a Hall Effect switch. And therefore there is no physical connection to the actual brake master cylinder...... from memory.

I have since found it tucked away on the driver's side of the master cylinder. @Winchy you are correct that it will be easier to remove or troubleshoot with Airbox removed.

Just sourcing the part is next, will check with dealer on pricing in the morning as fuses and bulbs are all still good.

Dealer price was ~$80 for the part (repair kit)

Simple to fit just in an awkward spot. Leave the existing plastic retainer in place, remove airbox and problem solved.

    Took about 30mins to do
