    Its Official - V6 to get 190kw's

    From Caradvice yesterday:-

'Volkswagen has announced a more powerful Amarok V6 is on the way, just in time to greet the range-topping V6 Mercedes-Benz X-Class.
Power will come from a new, Euro 6 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 making 190kW and 580Nm – up from the 165kW and 550Nm (180kW on over boost) offered by the current range-topper.
Those tracking the incoming X-Class will know those figures are almost a perfect match for the 190kW and 550Nm on offer in the X350d, although the Volkswagen actually offers more torque.
“As we’ve promised before, we have no intention of giving up the mantle of the most powerful ute in its class and are looking to offer the upgraded 190kW Amarok V6 later in the year,” said Carlos Santos, local Volkswagen director of commercial vehicles.

Although it’ll likely still undercut the Mercedes on price, the rollout will mirror that of the current V6 range. That means the range-topping Ultimate will likely come first, followed by cheaper Highline and Sportline variants.
Pricing hasn’t been confirmed, but we’d expect to see the Ultimate cost slightly more than the current $68,490 (before on-roads) flagship.
Exact timing beyond “later this year” hasn’t been confirmed, but Australia is one of the biggest export markets for the Amarok, and as such can expect to be near the front of the queue.
“Amarok continues to be a huge success story for Volkswagen in Australia, winning fans in Birdsville and boardrooms alike,” Santos said.'

Wonder if the dealer's will retune our current V6's in line with the upgrade. If they can reflash if there are faults , or changes etc, I'd be pleased to get an official upgrade as well.
Fat chance I know as there will be all sorts of excuses like warranty, upgrade specs etc. Interested to see/hear what modifications will be made to compensate for this increase in power (if any?)

Anyone got any more info on this? One of the articles refers to availability being "by September".

Bring it on! I wonder what the 0-100km time will drop to? 7.5s?

Reading some of the overseas news reports, it looks like the new 190kW engine will have 200kW in overboost. Woohoo!

    Correct me if I'm wrong!

    Volkswagen Amarok
Overboost provides the Amarok in the short term for 258 hp

    http://motor-traffic.de/news.php?newsid=502214

"Start of production of the Amarok with a new top engine: At Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles in the main plant in Hanover, the premium pickup truck is now running on a 258 hp (190 kW) V6 engine. In addition to up to 580 Newton meters (Nm) of torque, the engine also offers an overboost of just under 14 hp. The top engine is available for the equipment lines Highline and Aventura. The Aventura with 258 hp also receives headliner and pillar trim in black and new 20-inch wheels.

One of the first vehicles to leave the production line is a twin-cabin Amarok Aventura and 3.0l V6 TDI. The six-cylinder unit with 258 hp plus overboost works standard with the 4Motion four-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The pickup in "Ravennablau Metallic" drives on the 20-inch "Talca" light-alloy wheels.

580 Newton meters instead of 550 Nm and significantly more power - both pleased users of a terrain pick-up. The full torque is already available between 1400 and 3000 revolutions per minute (RPM) and the full power from 3250 to 4000 rev / min. With the briefly retrievable overboost performance of 272 hp when passing through the accelerator of the Amarok sets against the previous 224 hp vigorously. The standard features of the new V6 Amarok Highline and Amarok Aventura also include bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights. The optionally available Roll Cover System (RCS), a movable cover of the 2.52 square meter Cargobox, is now finished in a shimmering silver aluminum look.

First Amarok with the new V6 top engine will be available from mid-June 2018; the order systems are already open. Starting price in Germany 51 384.20 euros (including VAT) for the Highline and 58 072.00 euros (including VAT) for the Aventura. With the smallest 164-hp V6 engine, entry into the six-cylinder world is possible from € 32,076.45 (all prices including VAT)."
